Description of thesis work


The goal of this master thesis proposal is to investigate the management of site ecosystems utilizing battery swap solutions. Specifically, this research aims to map and compare different ecosystem setups, identify their needs and requirements, and develop an operational strategy for effectively managing ecosystems to support diverse battery swap solutions. The outcomes of this work will contribute to the development and optimization of operational plans for implementing a range of battery swap solutions for different customer segments. The research activities involved in this work are as follows:
Conduct a literature review on battery swap solutions and ecosystem management
Analyze and map out different ecosystem setups and configurations utilized in battery swap solutions
Identify the challenges associated with managing site ecosystems that use battery swap solutions.
Investigate the specific needs and requirements of different battery swap solutions within diverse ecosystems
Identify technical, operational, or financial aspects that influence how the site ecosystem could be optimally operated, such as electricity market design or site layout
Develop an operational strategy for effectively managing site ecosystems to support various battery swap solutions, including the earlier defined aspects.
Select and examine real-world case studies to validate the proposed operational strategy.
Compare the performance and effectiveness of different ecosystem setups and assess their alignment with battery swap solution requirements.
Compare 2-3 scenarios and estimate the ecosystem’s value proposition and profitability from a business model perspective.
Provide recommendations and guidelines for optimizing ecosystem management to enhance battery swap solution implementation.



We are looking for a team of two students with knowledge and interest of electromobility, business models, energy systems and ecosystem partnerships. I uppdraget som Junior Mjukvaruutvecklare arbetar du med att ta fram olika plattformslösningar mot företagets maskiner och produkter världen över, så som hjullastare, grävmaskiner och ramstyrda dumprar. Arbetet bygger på nära samarbete med kompletta maskinutvecklare och bedrivs i tvärfunktionella team. Du välkomnas till en större avdelning inom Electromobility, bestående av totalt 70 medarbetare globalt, som arbetar i agila team inom både hårdvara och mjukvara med olika fokusområden som hanterar specifikationer och kravsätter komponenter. Om rollen:
I rollen som Embedded Software Engineer kommer du att vara en del av ett spännande projektprogram som arbetar med en ny generation av elektrisk hårdvara och nya programvaruramverk. We are the Driveline Controls function within Volvo Construction Equipment in Eskilstuna.


Driveline Controls is responsible for development of control solutions on complete driveline level as well as internal control solutions for driveline components. We work with the complete development cycle, from definition of new functions to implementation and calibration in machines.




What We Offer?


Our products are drivelines for heavy machines such as wheel loaders, articulated haulers and trucks. The work is based on close cooperation with complete machine developers and is carried out in cross functional projects with representation from both electronic system and mechanical design.


You will work as a development engineer with focus on functional development of control algorithms and software. The scope of work is broad and you will get the opportunity to work in the entire range of the development chain. This includes testing and evaluation in the end products in our test track, which is in direct connection to our development center.


We design and implement new functions and control algorithms in C/C++ or Model based design with Matlab/Simulink. You will also work with communication protocol like CAN/LIN/Ethernet. You will also take part in development testing in model-in-the-loop environment and Hardware-in-the-loop test rigs.


In this role, you will:
Have a broad mechatronic approach along with understanding of both the mechanical design of the driveline component and other parts of the machine systems.
Have knowledge and experience regarding software development for embedded systems.



Who Are You?
You have relevant education within the areas of mechatronics, software engineering, electronics, mechanical engineering or similar.


Exposure from development of transmissions, driveline systems or other mechatronic systems is an advantage. Preferably you should have experience in some of the areas; controls, embedded software development, functional safety, model based function development, simulation, mechatronics, signal processing, sensors and actuators etc.

You will lead our team for assuring functional safety for our software development. You will ensure that functional safety standards are met during product development cycles. You will contribute with good understanding of solutions according to valid standards and directives.

The context
Volvo Construction Equipment is in middle of a huge change journey implementing the Product Lifecycle Management way of living, which means big improvements are done to business processes and the supporting IT solutions. Our team is in the core of this journey, delivering all the IT solutions and infrastructure to support the PLM.


Main characteristics of the job
You will join a competent Agile team working with Windchill PLM. We have interesting new development and product increments ahead of us and need to strengthen our team with Senior SW Engineer who will work with PDMLink, MPMLink and SIM customizations and configurations together with the rest of the team.
Your days would simply run by in the agile team, where we develop and maintain the Windchill solution, which is used and will be used for EBOM, MBOM, SBOM with depending change flows and elements (PR, CR, ECN, MCN, SCN, etc.). We have various integrations up-streams and down-streams and are using multiple state of the art technologies to provide them.

Imagine a future where trucks and machines are driving around without a physical operator in the cab. Everything under surveillance from a central control tower, where operators can teleoperate vehicles based on video feedback when needed. This is how you can make an impact
As Software Developer for Vehicle Controls you will take on the task of developing control logic and interfaces in a real-time environment with requirements on both performance and safety for autonomous driving of both machines and trucks.


Our software domain has two main interfaces:
Up-stream towards an external control source, such as the autonomous driving system, teleoperation and line-of-sight control.
Down-stream towards different vehicle control units.

Our software include functionality for arbitration between different external control sources. Our software also acts as an abstraction layer for the different types of vehicles, providing the external control sources with all needed information from the vehicle in a commonly agreed format. The work will cover all stages from prototyping software, requirement development, SiL/HiL/Vehicle verification to final production code verification. We target to have a state-of-the-art development environment.


Who are you?
As you will be working with new technology, it is preferable if you have experience in product development within relevant engineering areas. It is also important that you enjoy working with new technology and take part in continuously improving our ways of working. You will have the opportunity to work with different cultures cross functionally, with internal as well as external stakeholders and therefore we see that you have good interpersonal and communication skills. Being fluent in English, spoken and written, is also important to succeed in this position. Other requirements that we also see as beneficial for the role are:
Experience from development of embedded systems and from troubleshooting, both software and hardware.
Knowledge about C or C++ programming, Linux environments and Python programming.
Experience from verification of embedded systems, on unit and integration level.
Experience from working within a safety standard development process, such as ISO 26262 or ISO 13849.

Digital Processutvecklare / RPA-utvecklare 
Värde uppstår när processer inte bara digitaliseras utan också förbättras kopplat till de nya möjligheter som uppstår. För Semcon är det viktigt att kunna hjälpa kunderna med att designa processer som med digital teknik är effektivare och kan skapa ett högre värde. Därför behöver vi individer med kompetens att modellera och automatisera flöden och processer.  
 
Cloud-specialist / Cloud-arkitekt 
Molnlösningarna på marknaden utvecklas i rasande takt och bland des största teknikjättarna är kampen hård och investeringarna enorma. För att göra våra kunder konkurrenskraftiga krävs att vi har kompetens att förstå utvecklingen och kan konvertera molnleverantörernas framsteg till nytta för kunden och kundens kund. Extended Reality (XR) 
Ett av de hetaste områdena just nu är Extended Reality (XR).
