Region Sörmland IT (RSIT), Eskilstuna eller Nyköping

Knock, knock!

Who’s there?! You have been so intensely focused on planning the coming department meeting and you powerpoint brain is slow to shift focus to Pam as she gently knocks on your desk to get your attention.

- “The team is going to the new Italian restaurant. Are you joining or do you have a lunch box?” Pam looks like she is eager to get going.

- “Absolutely! Just let me finish my presentation?” You take a quick look at the agenda and decide you are satisfied and that more fiddling won’t improve the presentation material. You are delighted to discover that the whole team is joining for lunch and take the opportunity to talk about the upcoming afterwork you and the team are planning for next week. Ned and Dan are in the party committee, and they want to bring a bunch of board games and make it a Game Night but Gustav and Marie prefer something more active, like lasergame or canoeing. You are excited about both ideas and the team spends some time discussing creative ways to combine them.

When you come back to the office you enjoy a very productive afternoon starting with the Cloud technical meeting in which the management team and the product owners decide to implement a very exciting new function, then you plan for the welcoming of a new colleague, and you even have time to finish some budget work you have been putting off for a bit too long. When you close your computer for the day (slightly late to pick up at daycare but not too late) you think to yourself that even if there are many challenges to address going ahead you are never alone and that you have the best team and management colleagues and that there ain't nothing you can't get through together.

Welcome to the team!

The Cloud domain is a part of the Technology organization at Volvo Autonomous Solutions. We design the solutions of the future including teleoperation, connectivity and cloud services for autonomous traffic, fleet and productivity management. Our mission is to create safe automation solutions helping our customers reach sustainability and productivity goals. We are driven by the vision that our innovations will meet and exceed expectations from customers and contribute to a society that we want to live in.

The team you will lead is brilliant and always ready for new technical adventures and this is in fact a unique opportunity to join a fantastic department with a startup mentality working with truly disruptive technology while at the same time being a part of the world-renowned Volvo Group.

What will you be doing?

You are responsible for inspiring, supporting and leading the one of the Site Control System teams within the Cloud domain. The people in your team are just wonderful; highly competent with diverse personalities and backgrounds and they are always there for each other just like family. Your team currently consists of around ten software engineers, and you are accountable for developing off board functions including for instance fleet, traffic, and productivity applications run on an on-prem server. You and your team collaborate closely with the sister team in Göteborg forming a tight-knit community of practice in Site Control System development.

You will set the roadmap and objectives for the group, and plan expenses in the budget work as well as lead the implementation and ensure the use of engineering best practices, continuous improvement, and a high quality of the deliveries. Further, you will influence the vision and strategy of the entire Cloud domain being a key member of the management team, and on top of defining how to achieve the best and continuously improving work situation for your team. The philosophy of the management team and your manager is to always put people first, approach new situations with curiosity and to always, no matter what, do so with respect for the individual. You will be encouraged to dream big, dare to fail, and always invest time in personal development.

Your job as a servant leader will involve coaching and developing your team members, supporting an agile organization, and being responsible for the development of our technical solutions. You will guide the team through change and work to maintain a climate that is based on trust, learning and cross-functional teamwork with the foundation in a strong safety culture.

Who are you?

You are an engaging leader who thoroughly enjoys finding fun and effective ways to engage and motivate both individuals and teams. You are an inspiring communicator who listens actively and you are easy to connect with. That is great since the work revolves around good collaboration.

You have an intense interest in innovative technology and your ability to understand new contexts quickly and efficiently while being able to prioritize in a structured way will come in handy since our technology development moves in a fast pace.

You most likely have previous experience of software development, and you might even have a background as a programmer. We develop code in some of the most common languages so knowledge in e.g., C++, C# or Java will come in handy. Maybe you also have experience with development of traffic planning, fleet management or similar functions and it would certainly be cool if you have a general understanding of mechatronic systems or perhaps a background in autonomous system, transportation or robotics. However, we believe your potential, personality, and mindset to gain all this knowledge is more important than having them all today.

Our working environment is highly international, and hence you need to be proficient in English, both written and spoken.

Are we the perfect match?

If you are as eager to embark on this exciting leadership journey as we are to get to work with you then don’t hesitate to reach out! We adopt a continuous selection process so make sure to apply as soon as possible. Interviews will be held continuously with pause for vacation period during w29-w32. We look forward to receiving your application!
